Where does your money go?
The Backcountry use fees are required to help offset the costs associated with maintaining the backcountry access route through our groomed trails, snowclearing in our parking lot and maintenance and operation of our day lodge - which you are more than welcome to use. An outhouse is located by treeline in the stadium, adjacent to the parking lot, for use when the lodge is closed.
We would also like to mention that the activities undertaken by the club, including grooming the ski trails, maintaining our parking lot, trail maintenance, and machine maintenance are largely accomplished through the volunteer time of its members. Thank you!
Revelstoke Nordic Club Dog Code of Conduct
Want to bring your dog ski touring? The backcountry area above the Mt. Macpherson cross country ski trails is a great place for this, as dogs are not allowed in Glacier National park or at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
- While we are stoked for your dog to have the time of their life givn'r through the pow up top, we require your dog to be leashed from the Parking lot until you get to the top of the Mountain Climb trail boundary sign.
- Your dog must also be on leash on the way back down, from the time you re-enter the Mt. Macpherson cross country ski trail area all the way back to your vehicle, including the parking lot and lodge area.
Dog owners are responsible for their dog’s behaviour.
The owner of a dog is responsible for maintaining control over their pet and to be in abidance of any bylaws etc. that govern having a pet in public. If a skier is interfered with by a dog and suffers bodily injury, and they sue the dog owner and the club for damages, the club will be fully protected under the CCC/CCBC liability insurance policy. However the owner of the dog has no protection and is personally responsible for their dog’s actions just as they would be in other similar settings.
In consideration of other trail users, please respect the following rules:
- Dogs are not permitted inside the lodge or on the deck. Please do not tie your dog to the lodge.Backcountry skiers accessing the Fingers must have their dog leashed on Main Loop (ascending AND descending). Dogs may be off-leash once off RNSC trails.
- The Parking Lot and Stadium Area is a MANDATORY ON-LEASH area for all dogs at all times. Please respect that the parking lot is shared with children and other members.
- Any dog poop must be removed from the trail, preferably with the provided trowels.
- Policy infractions will be investigated by the RNSC dog liaison and reviewed by the board of directors.
Paying your fees helps us build and maintain our club, and it honors the efforts of our volunteers and the commitments of our members.
