General Manager

The Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club is seeking a strategic, community-minded General Manager to lead the organization and oversee its day-to-day operations. As the senior staff member, the General Manager provides leadership across all areas of the club, including programs, finance, operations, communications, and partnerships. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, team builder, and project manager, capable of balancing seasonal workload demands while fostering long-term organizational growth.

Reporting Structure
The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors through the Board President and collaborates closely with all board committees, staff, contractors, and volunteers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead implementation of the club’s strategic plan and support updates to strategic documents
  • Identify new partnerships, funding opportunities, and earned revenue initiatives
  • Ensure alignment between daily operations and long-term goals

Operations & Program Oversight

  • Oversee facility use, seasonal transitions, memberships, and daily operations
  • Support planning and delivery of programs in collaboration with coaches and leads
  • Develop systems to streamline scheduling, administration, and reporting

Financial Management & Fund Development

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget with the Finance Committee
  • Monitor expenditures and maintain strong fiscal controls
  • Lead or assist with major grants, sponsorships, and fundraising initiatives

Staff Supervision & Team Coordination

  • Recruit, support, and manage seasonal staff and key volunteers
  • Foster a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative team culture
  • Provide leadership to staff across departments

Community Engagement & Communications

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members, partners, and funders
  • Oversee communications including newsletters, social media, and website updates
  • Promote club activities and services to grow participation and awareness

Governance & Board Support

  • Prepare reports and attend monthly board meetings
  • Support board committees including governance, finance, policy, and athlete development
  • Implement board decisions and strategic direction

Facility & Asset Management

  • Oversee maintenance and upgrades to buildings and equipment
  • Coordinate capital projects and collaborate with contractors and suppliers
  • Seek and manage funding for facility development

Trail Projects & Land Use

  • Support trail improvements, planning, and land-use partnerships
  • Liaise with external land managers (e.g., RSTBC, industry stakeholders)
  • Lead or contribute to trail-related grant writing and project oversight

Workplace Health & Safety

  • Lead and oversee workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and other staff to implement and monitor Health & Safety procedures across all operations
  • Maintain incident tracking and coordinate follow-up actions

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, community, or recreation settings
  • Strong administrative, financial, and communication skills
  • Experience with staff management and stakeholder engagement
  • Skilled in project coordination and strategic planning
  • Comfortable balancing day-to-day operations with long-term priorities
  • Familiarity with Nordic skiing or outdoor recreation strongly preferred

Work Schedule & Location
This is a part-time, year-round salaried position based on approximately 1400 - 1600 hours annually, with someseasonal flexibility in workload and 4 - 5 weeks of scheduled time off. On-site presence is required during the winter season and for major operational periods. The Nordic Lodge is located 15 minutes from downtown Revelstoke; reliable transportation is essential.

WAGE
$50000 - $57000 per year, based on experience and qualifications (RNSC is a Living Wage Employer)
