Operations Manager

The RNSC is seeking a reliable and mechanically skilled Operations Manager to oversee the safe operation of the club’s trails, facilities, and equipment. This hands-on position involves planning, repairs, maintenance, record-keeping, and coordination with seasonal staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate is highly organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.

Reporting Structure
The Operations Manager works closely with and reports to the General Manager. They also liaise with the Board’s Operations Director.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal operations timelines and maintenance budgets
  • Monitor and maintain secondary grooming equipment (e.g., snowmobiles, side-by-sides, implements)
  • Perform or coordinate repairs to club vehicles, buildings, and infrastructure (lodge, shop, huts)
  • Oversee electrical, plumbing, septic, and well systems
  • Conduct trail inspections and organize hazard removal (trees, erosion, etc.)
  • Supervise and mentor seasonal trail crew staff and volunteers
  • Support capital planning and purchasing (asset management)
  • Oversee shop organization and general cleanliness
  • Implement and monitor Health & Safety procedures across operations, including training and safe operation of all equipment and vehicles

Shared Responsibilities

  • Support Trail Services Supervisor in posting trail condition updates (website, snowphone, etc.)
  • Respond to on-site health and safety incidents & ongoing implementation of Worksafe BC procedures
  • Assist with ski trail grooming and snow removal duties

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Competent in the safe operation of snowmobiles, side-by-sides, and chainsaws
  • Experience in general building maintenance (basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry)
  • Organized, dependable, and capable of working independently
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience working with volunteers and/or seasonal staff
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with snow grooming equipment and practices
  • Previous experience with Nordic ski club or similar recreation facility operations
  • Familiarity with Nordic ski grooming equipment and procedures
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance tracking or digital record keeping
  • Basic knowledge of trail lighting and grooming systems

Work Schedule & Location
This is a part-time (approx. FTE 0.6–0.75) seasonal position, typically beginning in November and ending in early April. The work is based at the RNSC Nordic Lodge and trail system, located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Revelstoke. Reliable transportation to and from the site is required.

WAGE
$28.00 - $35.00/hour, dependent on experience and qualifications (RNSC is a Living Wage Employer)
