Week of December 16th

Thanks to all who made the Pancake Breakfast a success! In particular, I would like to applaud the Flapjack Flippin’ Duo of Russ and Jasmine Brackenbury for a superb job.
Here’s the schedule for our dynamic upcoming week:
Tuesday: 4:30 – 6:30 (TA & JD) Skating
Wednesday: Headlamp Heroes Wednesday Night Race!
Registration 6 – 6:30pm, racing begins @ 7pm
1.5km, 3.75km and 7.5km Classic Interval Start
This event will be a great warmup for the Okanagan Cup. Kids AND parents are encouraged to participate! Skookum has offered prizes AND there will be a special birthday celebration!
Track Attack and Junior Development Holiday Camp!
Including our favourite summertime coach Brittany Evans, former Nordic racer and physiotherapist Fraser Sprigings (Helios Rehabilitation & Performance) and potentially other local superstars — stay tuned! On-snow sessions will be super fun and varied –anything from Okanagan Cup race prep and technique work to Nordic Orienteering and the Food Chain game. 
 
Friday: 4:00 – 6:30
Skate (1.5hr ski + core & stretching)
Saturday: all day
9:30 – 12:00 –> Classic (2hr ski + stretching)
12:00 – 1:00 –> Lunch
1:00 – 2:00 –> Talk by Fraser on injury prevention, warmup & cool down
2:00 – 3:00 –> Video analysis
3:00 – 5:00 — Skate (1.5hr ski + stretching)
5:00 onwards –> Potluck @ Lodge (all family members welcome!)
Bonus!
Monday (December 23rd): 10:30 – 12:00 (TA & JD) Classic
Larch Hills will be coming to Revelstoke and would like to join forces for a big group practice. This is a great opportunity to ski with our neighbour club and show off our great trail system!

Headlamp Heroes Wednesday Night Series 

Get prepped for the first Headlamp Heroes event next Wednesday (December 18th) with our first Open Training Session from 7 – 8:30 this Wednesday evening (December 11th). There will be two workouts to choose from depending on your objective and fitness level. We will be classic skiing, but strict skate skiers are welcome to join as well. Varied abilities are welcome. No cost, except trail pass for non-members.

 

One Day Ski Clinics

On Sunday, December 15th there will be a One Day Ski Clinic with both classic and skate instruction. Session schedule is as follows:
Classic: 10am – 12pm
Skate: 1pm – 3pm
$20 / 2hr session + trail fee for non-members

Parking

Please note that during the Okanagan Cup, parking at the Nordic Ski Centre is limited.  Only cars with 4 or more people will be allowed to park.  Drop offs will be permitted.
A parking lot will be available 7 km before the ski area to use as a self organized meeting area for car pooling.  See the map showing the location of the ski area and the car pooling parking lot.
