Chuck the Chicken: https://www.thephysicaleducator.com/games/chuck-the-chicken
(Use a fun stuffy, change the name to whatever it is ie. Toss the turtle, chuck a duck, Shotput the Sheep, Hurl the Hippo, Launch the Lion)
10 - 10:20 Skills Review:
We have received our SDP toques and sticker booklets. Grab a book from the lodge (I will leave them in the cubbies) to show them what they will get but hand them out at the end when they go in to do their stickers.
Every kid can recieve the “adventure” sticker today for the scavenger hunt. Use your judgement for handing out other skill stickers.
Split into age groups, and review skills learned in previous weeks
Ready Position
Falling and rising on flats
Downhill Snowplow/stopping
Diagonal Stride
Kickturn
Double Pole
One-step Double pole (jr 3 and 4 only)
step turns (jr 3 and 4 only)
10:20 - 10:40 Scavenger Hunt
Each JR group has a different route, so the stations won’t be crowded, but they will hit mostly the same stations, with older kids doing a few extra.
Each group will get:
starting clue
a map with trail names listed
an Answer Key for each coach so they can help the group
The key can be found here so you can read it over beforehand if you like, but I will have them printed and laminated for you to bring with you!
Don’t forget to stop for a snack!
End Game 11:15-11:30
11:30-11:45 feather duster tag in the upper stadium
11:30 - 11:45 Stickers + SDP booklets & Toques
Hand out adventure stickers to everyone who attended this week. Use your judgement for other stickers! Kids can bring their booklets home. We will have one at the lodge to reference for handing out stickers in future weeks. Every kid can also have a toque!
This is a great time to let them know about the Nordiq Canada Toque design contest. I will print out the contest application sheets to hand out with the JR sticker booklet for each kid
