Safesport Policy

The Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club has a fundamental obligation and responsibility to protect the health, safety and physical and mental well-being of every individual that is involved with The Revelstoke Nordic community.

The policies are intended to promote a safe sport environment in a manner that allows for consistent, immediate, appropriate and meaningful action should any issues arise, and they are also intended to prevent issues from arising in the first place by communicating expected standards of behaviour.

In a SafeSport environment, participants work and learn together without fear of abuse, neglect, or other maltreatment. The Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport gives examples of what abuse and maltreatment look like. Creating SafeSport environments is a collective effort — one that requires proper training so people can recognize, prevent, and address maltreatment.

In addition to being abuse-free, SafeSport environments are positive, inclusive, and respectful. We can create these conditions by following the True Sport Principles.
